Organising a sustainable event: 3 ways

Organising a sustainable event: 3 ways

Sustainability has now also become a priority in the events industry. And rightly so, because events are quite polluting. They involve a lot of logistics, require a lot of electricity and produce a lot of waste. Fortunately, more and more organisers are opting for a sustainable event. But how do you organise such a sustainable event yourself?

Organising a sustainable event: 3 ways

What is a sustainable event?

A sustainable event is an event where you, as an organisation, make choices that have the least possible impact on the environment and society. This is not only good for people and nature, but also for your event itself, as it acquires a green image and is therefore assessed more positively by visitors and possible reviewers. Especially now that sustainability is becoming a spearhead in many sectors.

3 ways to organise a sustainable event

Organising a circular event in which all parts really have to be reusable often turns out to be quite a task. That is why organisers often choose to make one or more parts of their event sustainable. In these areas, there is generally still a lot of green profit to be made:

1. Waste

No matter how you look at it, every event involves various waste streams. For example, from the decoration and stages, but materials are also used for promotion. And what about all those plastic cups? Fortunately, the environmental impact can be reduced relatively easily by building reusable decors, reducing merchandise packaging and carefully separating waste. A sustainable event also involves communicating digitally as much as possible, for example with its own app. That saves printing again!

2. Food

When it comes to food and drink, it is often possible to become more sustainable. For example, you can opt for sustainable catering with organic products. Preferably from local suppliers to minimise the ecological footprint of transport. At a sustainable event, you pour plain tap water instead of bottled spring water. Possibly from water fountains. Leftover food can be used for compost or taken to a good destination such as the Food Bank.

3. Energy

An average event consumes a lot of energy. Lighting and sound systems, TVs and so on. Of course, you already use LED lights and screens and other energy-efficient techniques, but even so, you often emit more CO2 than necessary. Especially in outlying areas, generators are used, and they often still run on diesel these days. By choosing sustainable energy from a green generator here, you will soon be organising a sustainable event.

Moreover, it also provides you with many benefits:

Less nuisance

Our solar-powered generator does not emit unpleasant odours. No stinky petrol smell that might even make visitors unwell. It is also a silent generator. So the system makes no noise and does not cause any noise pollution. Which is nice if you have a band playing or a DJ playing records.

Lower fuel costs

With a hybrid generator with solar panels, you save a lot on fuel costs. After all, the solar panels generate their own free electricity. Only in an emergency, such as moments of peak load, will the system switch to biodiesel. Depending on your energy needs, you can easily save hundreds to thousands of euros this way!

Power anytime, anywhere

With our portable solar panels, you have power anytime, anywhere. Even when it rains and in hard-to-reach places in the middle of nature. So you can easily organise a sustainable event in a meadow or forest – without having to drive tankers full of fuel back and forth. That makes a difference.
