What are the climate goals and how do we help?

What are the climate goals and how do we help?

It is (thankfully) a hot topic in politics again: climate targets. Government, business and ordinary citizens must take measures to limit – or even counteract – the effects of the greenhouse effect on the climate. But what exactly do these climate targets entail? What is the Climate Agreement? And how does Volta Energy help achieve those goals?

What are the climate goals and how do we help?

What are climate targets?

Climate goals are targets set to protect the world from the effects of climate change. For example, they agree to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to slow or stop global warming. Of course, we can only achieve this if everyone joins in. That is why countries have joint goals as well as individual targets.

Paris climate goals (Climate Agreement)

When we talk about climate goals, we also talk about the Paris Climate Agreement. In this agreement, the member states of the European Union, among others, declared to reduce the emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases by no less than 40 per cent by 2030. Meanwhile, the Netherlands and a few countries plan to make that as much as 55%.

Climate targets in the Netherlands

Countries that have signed the Climate Accord can decide for themselves how they will achieve those savings and what targets they will use to do so. In the Netherlands, these are the targets set out in the Climate Act:

At least 25% less greenhouse gases must be emitted by the end of 2020 compared to 1990

  • There must be at least 49% less CO2 emissions in 2030 compared to 1990
  • There must be at least 95% less CO2 emissions in 2050 compared to 1990

Climate targets 2030

The European Union eventually wants to move towards a climate-neutral economy. The first steps towards this will be taken up to 2030. The initial aim is to achieve the following compared to 1990 levels:

  • At least 40% less greenhouse gases will be emitted
  • At least 32% of energy comes from renewable sources
  • At least 32.5% of energy is used more efficiently

Climate objectives 2050

With the European Green Deal 2050, the EU and the Netherlands have set themselves the goal of being climate neutral. This means that net emissions should reach ‘zero’. By reducing greenhouse gases and offsetting CO2 emissions, we will then no longer contribute to climate change. In this way, it contributes to the objectives of the Climate Accord: limiting global warming to a maximum of 2 degrees and preferably even 1.5Β°C.

How Volta Energy contributes to achieving the climate objectives

With our mobile solar panels, we offer a green alternative to traditional diesel generators. This allows us to generate power at almost any location, but without the CO2 emissions of diesel and other fuels. So also without nasty smells and without noise. That makes the system not only environmentally friendly, but also user-friendly. And meanwhile, you also save on fuel costs.

A win-win-win situation.

For various industries

To meet climate targets, action is being taken across society. From citizens to businesses. And from the energy, industrial and transport sectors to agriculture. Our solar-powered aggregate is therefore used in various industries:

  • Governments & municipalities
Governments need to set a good example. Practice what you preach. That is why municipalities use us for work and events and support the use of green energy with subsidies. Read more here.
  • Construction
The government encourages sustainable building. In some cases, it is even mandatory already. Construction companies therefore use our solar panels to obtain subsidies and minimise inconvenience to local residents. Read more here.
  • Agricultural sector
Power is also needed on location in the agricultural sector. These are often hard-to-reach places with a relatively large amount of flora and fauna. As our system hardly affects the natural environment, many farmers therefore choose Volta Energy. Read more here.
  • Events
Organising a sustainable event is a must in the event industry these days. Our mobile power supply is therefore popular there too. After all, it can be used anywhere and does not bother visitors. For an optimal experience. Read more here.

Also contributing to the climate goals?

Would you also like to contribute to meeting the climate goals and maybe benefit from a subsidy in the meantime? Contact us without obligation. We will gladly show you the possibilities and immediately calculate what you can save!
