Volta Energy accelerating growth in Europe

We are taking a crucial step towards accelerating the energy transition in Europe with €38 million in funding from Invest-NL and ING. This investment will enable us to double the size of our fleet of sustainable mobile energy systems to 1,000 Voltas, helping us to further realise our mission of phasing out generators and making Voltas available around the world.

In a market dominated by diesel generators, we offer a sustainable alternative, the Volta: a tribride 3-1 system based on solar energy, batteries and a backup generator. Through our Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) model, customers gain access to reliable, low-emission, cost-efficient energy without needing to purchase any equipment. This solution reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 90 per cent, lowers operational costs, and meets stricter environmental standards.

This investment will strengthen our position in the Netherlands and Germany, and prepare us for further expansion across Europe, where demand for sustainable energy solutions is growing rapidly.

The need for sustainable mobile power

For years, diesel generators have dominated mobile power supplies in sectors such as construction, infrastructure, and telecommunications. These generators emit CO₂, particulate matter and nitrogen oxides, which contribute to noise pollution and our dependence on fossil fuels. Stricter emission standards, sustainability targets, grid congestion and the increased use of electric equipment, both large and small, mean that the demand for clean alternatives is greater than ever.

Our focus

We currently operate in the Netherlands, Germany and England and we have also recently launched sustainable mobile energy projects in Denmark, Belgium and Poland. These are important and very interesting mobile energy markets for us in Europe. We are establishing a strong presence in these countries, particularly within the construction, infrastructure, telecoms, and renewable energy sectors.

However, our ambitions extend further. We see significant opportunities in Eastern and Southern Europe, where demand for sustainable energy solutions is high but the market remains largely untapped. With this funding, we can expand our existing operations, enter new markets, and elevate our mission.

Energy as a Service: a catalyst for growth

Our Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) model offers more than just an alternative to buying or renting traditional diesel generators. It is a comprehensive, flexible, future-proof solution that enables customers to immediately benefit from sustainable, reliable, cost-effective mobile energy without the burden of ownership, maintenance, or high initial investment.

With our EaaS model, customers benefit from:

  • lower costs (no purchase, maintenance or fuel costs);
  • greater sustainability (90% reduction in CO₂, emission-free and quieter operation);
  • flexibility (scalable, rapid delivery and bespoke solutions);
  • reliability (24/7 support and proactive maintenance);
  • future-proofing (automatic access to innovations);
  • competitive advantage (compliance with requirements and sustainable credentials).

Innovation as a driving force

Alongside expanding our fleet, technological innovation is essential for achieving our growth ambitions. One of the most promising developments is the introduction of methanol fuel cells, which are central to our future plans. These fuel cells offer an effective, environmentally friendly and scalable solution for mobile energy, particularly in sectors where a long-lasting and reliable power supply is essential.

Our mission remains unchanged: to phase out diesel generators and make Voltas available around the world. With this new funding, we can achieve this goal more quickly and on a larger scale. The mobile energy market is on the cusp of a fundamental shift. Customers want sustainable energy solutions that are reliable, flexible and cost-effective. This investment will enable us to expand our fleet more quickly, strengthen our position in Europe and help more organisations to say goodbye to diesel.
