Meet the Volta 15 ZERO

The Volta 15 ZERO is a 3-in-1 mobile energy system, developed for construction sites, telecom locations and infrastructure projects without a grid connection where the strictest emission requirements apply. The system combines solar panels, a battery pack and a methanol fuel cell as backup in one integrated system.

Volta: 3-in-1 mobile energy system

The Volta 15 ZERO combines three technologies that work seamlessly together, controlled by smart software.

1. Solar panels
The amorphous solar panels generate energy during the day and charge the batteries. They continue to produce energy even in cloudy or rainy weather. The Volta 15 ZERO operates completely silently and with low emissions at all times.

2. The battery
The 31.2 kWh LiFePO4 battery stores the generated energy and supplies power at any time of day, continuously even when the sun isn’t shining.

3. Methanol fuel cell
Is the capacity insufficient, the methanol fuel cell automatically kicks in. A fuel cell operates electrochemically: no combustion, no internal combustion engine, no noise. Methanol is converted directly into electricity. The result: a backup that is completely silent, emits no nitrogen or particulate matter, and with a significant CO₂-reduction. The fuel cell switches off automatically as soon as the system is self-sufficient again.

The three technologies work together continuously. The system monitors itself and is monitored remotely by the Volta Energy team.

  • What is the continuous output of the Volta 15 ZERO?
The recommended continuous output of the Volta 15 ZERO is 1.8 kW. Peak output is 12 kW.
  • What is the difference between the Volta 15 ZERO and the first generation Volta 15?
Both models have a similar power profile: 1.8 kW continuous and 12 kW peak. The difference lies in the backup. The first generation Volta 15 uses an HVO100 generator as backup: powerful and immediately available. The Volta 15 ZERO uses a methanol fuel cell: completely whisper-quiet, nitrogen-free, particulate-free and with a significant CO₂ reduction. The Volta 15 ZERO is the right choice for projects with the strictest emission requirements.
  • How much CO₂ does the Volta 15 ZERO save compared to a diesel generator?
The Volta 15 ZERO achieves an average CO₂ reduction of more than 70%. In addition, the system is fully nitrogen-free and particulate-free, as there is no combustion.
  • Is the Volta 15 ZERO suitable for a telecom tower?
Yes. A standard telecom tower with a power demand of up to 1.8 kW is well served by the Volta 15 ZERO. The system operates fully off-grid, without a grid connection, and its whisper-quiet operation also makes it suitable for sites in residential areas.
  • Does the Volta 15 ZERO work in bad weather or at night?
Yes. The combination of the battery pack and methanol fuel cell ensures continuous power delivery, 24 hours a day, regardless of weather conditions. The amorphous solar panels also deliver output in overcast conditions.
  • How quiet is the Volta 15 ZERO?
The Volta 15 ZERO is completely whisper-quiet at every moment of the day. Even when the methanol fuel cell is active, the system produces no combustion noise. That makes it ideal for urban environments, sites near residential areas or projects subject to noise standards.
  • Is the Volta 15 ZERO suitable for projects in low-emission zones or nitrogen-sensitive areas?
Yes. The Volta 15 ZERO is fully nitrogen-free and particulate-free, making it suitable for the most emission-sensitive environments, including low-emission zones, Natura 2000 areas and areas with active nitrogen restrictions.
  • How long does it take for the methanol fuel cell to kick in?
The methanol fuel cell requires 45 to 60 minutes to start up. The battery pack ensures continuity of power supply in the meantime.
