The first generation Volta combines three technologies in a single system: solar panels, a battery and a combustion engine. It draws its energy from two sources: the sun and biofuel. It supplies power 24 hours a day: during the day, at night, when it’s cloudy and during peak loads.
1. Solar panels: electricity from sunlight
The sun is the Volta primary energy source. The solar panels convert sunlight into electricity and use it to charge the battery, even in cloudy weather. As long as the sun is shining, the Volta operates completely silently and with low emissions.
2. Battery: power 24 hours a day
The electricity generated is stored in a smart battery pack. This supplies your project with power at any time of day, even when the sun isn’t shining.
3. Combustion engine: a reliable backup
Should the stored power ever prove insufficient, the HVO100 backup generator switches on automatically. This combustion engine runs on HVO100 biofuel, a 100% renewable, fossil-free fuel produced from waste streams. Significantly cleaner than conventional diesel: lower CO₂ emissions, lower nitrogen oxide emissions and lower particulate matter. As soon as the battery is fully charged again, the backup automatically switches off.
Intelligently controlled: completely automatic
The three technologies work together seamlessly. The backup only kicks in when it’s really needed and switches off again as soon as the battery is back up to the required level. The result: maximum power from solar energy, minimal biofuel consumption and a continuously stable power supply for your project. We also monitor this process remotely; you won’t even notice it. That’s what we call Energy as a Service.
