Every year the Hoogte 80 Festival is held in city park Hoogte 80 in the Arnhem district of Monnikenhuizen during Ascension Day. In previous years, polluting and noisy diesel generators were always used here, something that does not suit a city park. The festival’s organisers were therefore looking for a better alternative that was both cheaper and more sustainable. Volta Energy was able to help them do just that!

To respect the environment of the city park as much as possible and also contribute to a more sustainable society, the Height 80 Festival is keen to take a sustainability approach. A major polluter at previous editions were the conventional diesel generators. The aim is to replace these as much as possible with sustainable and green solar-powered generators. Given that the day of the festival (Ascension Day) falls in the month of May, there is also a reasonable chance of a good number of solar hours.
The Hoogte 80 city park in Arnhem is best known for its beautiful point at altitude overlooking the eastern part of the city, the IJssel and the Liemers. The festival grounds are therefore characterised by hills and many differences in height. This makes it difficult to get (large) aggregates to the right location.
In the end, one 15kVA solar generator and two 45kVA solar generators were chosen for the Hoogte 80 Festival in Arnhem. So although the installation was a challenge, this turned out well in the end.
We can be clear about the sustainable objective: it was achieved! During the three days the generators were used, 2096 kg of CO2 were saved compared to using a conventional generator. Moreover, a nice cost saving of €446.14 was also made as 2096 litres less diesel was consumed.
From Volta Energy, we hope to be able to provide this festival with sustainable energy more often in the future. In fact, the festival organiser has already knocked on our door again to rent two 15 kVA solar generators. This is for another festival called Pika. Solar energy is the future!
The power generators come in different sizes - from 6 kVA to 120 kVA - so that all construction sites and events can be supplied with renewable energy on site. Our bio-solar-hybrid generators are more sustainable than conventional diesel generators and hybrid diesel-battery generators. When the sun is not shining, our generators automatically switch from solar to battery and then to bio-diesel genset. This way, we make sure you always have power..

We used the Volta Energy Naos for a co-creation session at a neighbourhood party in Rotterdam.
